Hi everybody, it's Chris Byberg, the Director of the National House of Prayer here in Ottawa. Today's caption, or today as we're going to be calling it, Pray the News. This is a new caption for us, so welcome to Pray the News. Last Thursday, if you recall, was Truth and Reconciliation Day. And we set out a video for that based on Isaiah 61, got a great response. Praying the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon us to preach good news to the poor, to buy a broken heart. So anyway, later on the week, actually Friday, we learned that the Prime Minister, instead of observing the day, decided to go to the beach. I have a lot of thoughts and opinions on that.
And actually was musing with Marilyn on certain Facebook memes that I could put out there on my thoughts. They weren't that nice, and so I didn't do it. It's not about opinion. And Marilyn said to me something that was really, really brilliant. Because it repostured me, refocused me. And she said, Chris, if it wasn't for the Body of Christ praying for the Prime Minister, he doesn't have a hope. There is no hope for him. And I thought that was really, really profound. Because it's true. If the Body of Christ isn't praying for our Prime Minister, he doesn't have a hope. I want to read to you this passage from 1 Timothy. 1 Timothy chapter 2.
If you've been tracking with us, you hear us refer to this on many occasions. I urge you then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for everyone. For kings and those in authority, that we all may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. I love this part here. This is good and what pleases God our Saviour. Who wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. I never really realized that second portion there. That He wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Actually, just right after speaking about making petitions and praying for kings and those in authority. So that's our posture.
Our posture isn't to complain. Although I wanted to complain last week about the Prime Minister. I thought, man, did he drop the ball or what? But if we're not praying for him, we're not holding him up. How will he come to the knowledge of the truth? It's interesting that it was Truth and Reconciliation Day. Let's pray this. Father, we pray for our Prime Minister and our premiers and our MLAs and MPPs and MPs. Lord, that these men and women would come to the knowledge of the truth. Father, that they would know You, God our Saviour, in a personal way. So Father, we lift them up to You today. And Lord, we hold them before You. And Lord, we ask that You would guide them.
That You would bring them to the places. Lord, we just ask for wisdom in this season. We ask for Your guidance in this season. Your word in Psalm 46. I pray this often. Lord, send out Your light and Your truth that it would lead us. In Jesus' name. Amen. We'll see you next time. I'm Chris Byford, Director of the National House of Prayer. Bye for now.
